Dr. Don Neiffer was recently awarded the Certificate in One Health following completion of a graduate level program, which focuses on networking international public health, veterinary, and environmental professionals with involvement or interest in global One Health activities. The program is administered by the College of Public Health and Health Professions of the University of Florida.  Dr. Neiffer is currently enrolled in the Master of Health Science, One Health Concentration program offered by the Department of Environmental and Global Health. This graduate program differs from a traditional Master of Public Health degree, having an emphasis on occupational and zoonotic disease, multi-disciplinary problem solving, agriculture medicine, and occupational research.

Earlier this year Dr. Neiffer also completed requirements for Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist status through the Chi Institute of Chinese Medicine (Reddick, FL) and the China National Society of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. Though logistical challenges exist where many zoological specimens are concerned, Dr. Neiffer and the staff of Disney???s Animals, Science, and the Environment are starting to incorporate acupuncture into the treatment regimens for selected non-domestic species as well as domesticated collection animals.
