American College of Zoological Medicine Exam Preparation and Study Course

(In Person AND Virtual)

In conjunction with:

2023 ExoticsCon Conference

Boston, MA USA

The American College of Zoological Medicine’s Education Committee is sponsoring an exam preparation and study course in conjunction with the ExoticsCon conference. The ACZM Exam Preparation and Study Course will be held the Sunday before the ExoticsCon conference: Sunday, August 20 (8am – 5pm)

What information will be discussed?

A brief introduction to the history and mission of the ACZM, the credentialing process, and an overview of the exam itself will be discussed.  Time allowing, study and test-taking strategies will also be reviewed. A special focus will be given to any new changes to the ACZM exam, including grading and structure. Anyone with any interest in becoming board eligible or taking the ACZM examination would be expected to benefit from this section, especially those not familiar with college and the board examination.

Several review topics will be presented, allowing for discussion time with ACZM-board certified diplomats. All lectures will be focused in-depth reviews of a topic pertinent to zoological medicine, including the most up-to-date published information within the last five years (see schedule below).  Lunch will be provided in addition to coffee breaks, to allow opportunity for networking and sharing experiences/personal study strategies.  Following the lectures, examples of mock multiple-choice, essay, and slide exam questions will be given and discussed. The following morning, additional in-depth topics will be presented, with discussion time.  At the end of the first day, there will be a gathering of the newly formed ACZM mentor-mentee committee for course participants to help facilitate mentorship in the realm of boards preparation.

Who should take this course?

Anyone interested in learning more about the American College of Zoological Medicine, those that are interested in seeking Diplomate status, are in the process of preparing for examination, or any individual who is interested in and can benefit from in-depth, up-to-date, literature-based review lectures on zoological medicine.  The exam preparation and study course is administered and instructed by ACZM Diplomates and other specialists.

Will this help me prepare for ACZM boards?

YES! The course has been designed by recent ACZM graduates, several of which are currently on the ACZM examination committee.  Every effort has been made to ensure all information presented is both accurate and boards-relevant material.  In addition, this course provides an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues and develop study groups for the exam.

Will this be offered virtually as well as in person?

YES! If you are not able to attend live, you can attend virtually live or watch the recordings later. Continuing education credits are only available to those who attend live in person or virtually.

What is the cost?

The cost of this course is $200/person for early registration (until August 1st) and $250/person for late registration.  The cost is the same whether you attend virtually or in person.

The cost includes an electronic version of ACZM information handouts, in-depth lecture materials (notes and power points), lunch on the first course day, and refreshments on both days.

This course has been approved for 5 Continuing Education credits sponsored by the ACZM.
